Dr. Paul Rasmussen, MD

Paul Rasmussen, MD

Dr. Rasmussen received his medical degree from Mayo Medical School in 1983. He then completed a 3 year residency in Family Practice at Scott USAF Medical Center in Illinois. He and his wife Laura moved to Mitchell in 1990, where they have raised their 4 children. Dr. Rasmussen enjoys the privilege of taking care of all ages, including newborns in the hospital up to the elderly. Besides caring for a wide range of medical problems, he also performs DOT, pre-employment and Basic Med Flight physicals, and has a special interest in endoscopy and colonoscopy. Outside the clinic, he is an active instrument rated pilot, enjoys outdoor activities with friends and family, and competes in triathlons.

Douglas Holum, MD

Dr. Holum is a native of Minnesota who moved here to begin practice at the Mitchell Clinic in 1992. He graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School then completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Minnesota. He practiced for a short time in Minnesota before choosing to move here to South Dakota. He and his wife Barb raised their 2 children in Mitchell. He enjoys his very busy practice. He treats patients of all ages and all types of medical problems. He performs upper endoscopies (EGD) and colonoscopies, DOT and pre-employment physicals, and many minor office based surgical procedures. He loves farming, hunting, and especially treating the variety of patients and medical problems he sees.

Dr. Michael Gerlach, MD

Michael Gerlach, MD

Dr. Gerlach has been a physician at the Mitchell Clinic since 2001. He was born here in Mitchell at the Methodist Hospital. He grew up on a farm in Douglas County. He graduated from Corsica High School and then from college at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. He received his Doctorate of Medicine degree from the USD School of Medicine in 1998. He then completed his residency at the Center for Family Medicine in Sioux Falls before moving to Mitchell to begin his clinical practice in 2001. He treats all ages of patients as well as performing DOT and employment exams and colonoscopies. He and his wife Tarilynn have 3 children- Conner, Samantha, and Jessica. Besides his busy clinical practice he keeps busy attending his children’s many activities. He enjoys traveling, movies, music, hunting, and sports of any kind.

Gina Hawkins, PA-C

Gina has been a board certified Physician Assistant since 1993. She attended South Dakota State University followed by Des Moines University, where she received her Bachelors of Science degree and completed the Physician Assistant Studies Program. She has been practicing at the Mitchell Clinic since 1994. When she is not working, you will likely find her attending all types of sporting events. Her interests include boating, fishing, hiking, and running. She has 2 children. Her daughter attends USD and her son attends Ethan High School where her husband coaches, is the high school/middle school principal, and athletic director.

Sarah Goral, PAC

Sarah Goral, PA-C

Sarah is originally from Pennsylvania. She moved to South Dakota in 2010. She is a Certified Physician Assistant who earned her Master of Physician Assistant Science degree from St Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. Since graduating, she has provided a wide-range of services in family medicine and urgent care. Sarah enjoys providing medical care for all ages with a special interest in women’s health and pediatrics. Outside of the clinic, Sarah enjoys horseback riding, camping, and spending time with her husband and children.
